v.020 Floor 2, new mechanics, new sounds


Floor 2 has been completed! The game has also had a complete sound rework in both music and sfx to fit the theme better. Floor 2 focuses on two new mechanics: the matchbox to light fires and the laser to shoot projectiles. These two mechanics are used very heavily throughout Floor 2 to help the player get used to them. All that's left for mapping for the game is Floor 1 (which is the last floor you visit because you start at the bottom) and some side rooms for extra Captain's Logs. The mechanics aren't finalized for any of the floors so far, I may change them slightly or add more complexity to them before the final release.

Fixed:

  • The menu will no longer be already open after you save and then load your game
  • Options is no longer accessible in the tutorial menu
  • The minimap should now work and show the correct layout and player location for every room
  • The character should no longer be able to move when switching between menus and submenus
  • The softlock from going to the spawn room after saving Miles has been fixed

Known bugs

  • When playing the game in the browser, resources take slightly longer to load initially. Everything is smooth after the initial first load
  • The Hint option currently does not work
  • Reset Room may not work correctly in certain rooms (currently looking at removing this option altogether)
  • All Captain's Logs other than 7 do not have any actual text
  • Certain doors in the second half of the main hall on Floor 2 may not function correctly
  • Crawl, Walk, and Run pots move to strange places after the screen returns from unlocking the door.
  • An initial sound pass has been done but there may be a sound or two that has not been changed and will crash the game when trying to load.
